Since the society's formation in 1982 the society has endeavoured to attend a number of events on the River Thames and further a field in order to promote its aims.

The Massey has attended Association of Dunkirk Little Ships returns to Dunkirk in 1965, 1985, 1990, and 2000. We also support the Association commemorative cruises on the Thames and other areas along the coast. We are planning to join the ADLS on their 2005 return and have already commenced the necessary restoration and planning work for this to take place.

In 1987, whilst returning from a trip to Oxford to celebrate the centenary of Sir Eyre Massey Shaw's review of 1000 firemen, our crew met a lady who had been christened on board the Massey. Her father had been the skipper aboard the vessel and decided that this would be an appropriate place for this occasion. This prompted the Society to offer this facility and a number of families have since had their children christened and their details engraved on the ship's bell. We are pleased to be able to offer this unique facility for the coming season.

The Society has in the past taken part in a varied number of events including the naming of public houses, traditional boat rally at Henley, Windsor Canoe races, VE day celebrations and numerous aqua displays.

The Society is keen to welcome small groups of interested people on board and can provide water displays for organisations and their events. For further information please contact David Rogers on 01277 633079 or e-mail david@rogersrest.fsnet.co.uk.
